Well begun is half done

Setting targets, developing plans, executing them, work on the weakness, banking on the strength etc. are the commonly used words in corporate world. Weekly meetings to set milestones, efficient time management, few of the many skills employed by many of the successful firms.

But here i am not talking about some strategies of a multinational company, but scientific approach taken by the teachers and students of Atmiya Vidya Mandir(AVM). Teachers and students at AVM never shy away from the use of technology and methodological approach.

Students of class 10 spent the last week doing all of the above mentioned activities as a part of preparation of their forthcoming board exams. As per the new format of CBSE board students of class 10 are gearing up for a very important chapter in their life.

As per the new CCE system developed by the CBSE board, students are evaluated throughout the year through their classwork, homework, assignment etc. along with the final written exam. The final mark sheet would include both evaluations. So it is important for students to know where they are and what sort of score they would need to achieve in forthcoming written exams to be able to achieve their targets.

Teachers prepared an excel sheet for the students which would indicate what would be their target. A mentor - students list was created to help students identify their goals as well as form the strategies to achieve their goals.

Students were very keen to use such statistics to motivate themselves and prepare for the board exams. Going forward students will seat down with their mentors to come up with an effective study timetable so that they can prepare well.

Sometimes we feel it is too much for the young students, but when we see them embrace such situations and prepare themselves for a very competitive environment outside the school, you cannot help but be glad and admire these young minds.

It only happens in india

I was going through thoughts of a famous Indian author (don't remember his name) in which he claimed that Indians are very clever individuals but they are very dumb community. It sort of made sense as we have charismatic individuals who are very successful in their respective field but when it comes to we as a nation we are not that successful.

Let it be sports, let it be business, let it be anything and you will see we have fantastic individuals but as a nation we are not that dominant.

One of the characteristics of any human being is that they always have personal agenda, upon the completion of which they will succeed making others fail. So on average as a nation we don't necessarily gain much from their success.

Let us take a burning issue which has kept the imagination of the whole nation. The Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) and Shiv sena row. It seems to me that SRK is getting support from all over India by not apologizing to Shiva sena.

Let us look at his point of view. He said that we should have picked Pakistan players. And he said that every Indian should have freedom of speech. I don't disagree with that. But i truly believe that SRK had hidden agenda behind that statement. If he believed that then he should have picked pakistani player himself. Kolkata Night riders wanted to get a fast bowler and they went for shane Bond instead of better pakistani bowlers like Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Asif.

So now the real question comes why did he say that? Here is my theory. After the IPL fiasco all the pakistanis felt hurt and said that they will also boycott bollywood movies. SRK has a huge following in Pakistan and the IPL may have affected it. So by saying what he said, all he wanted was to win back pakistani fans. I have nothing against SRK, huge fan of him as a person But i guess he underestimated Shiv sena.

In conclusion i want to say that we have the freedom of speech which is our fundamental right but all the rights come with the responsibilities. You cannot use rights for your personal agendas. And i guess if you believe in 'KARMA' this is what SRK is getting back.

Let us think beyond our personal agendas and think about others. Let us try to put the nation first for a change. Let us take a cue from China where there is nothing personal, everything is of the nation and for the nation. We do not have to go up to that extent but let us just begin by putting country first and our personal agenda second.

what's wrong

'Thank God' says Pieterson

Normally no one would have thanked God for the terror attack in india and for that matter in any country. But Engnald captain Kevin pieterson (KP) may have thanked God for saving him and his team from  further embarrasment by the hands of hi flying indian team.

When the terror struck mumbai, KP and his team were on the wrong side of Sehwag' onslaught at Cuttak. KP would have been preparing his speech for the post match presentation already. Eventhough he was clapping and trying to motivate his players, he knew that it will be 5-0 after the match. 

The news of the terror must have reached there as soon as the team reached the hotel. Although the news wasn't pleasent, KP must have seen the brighter side of it. And the positive side was that they actually could escap a 7-0 drubbing from the indians and could actually leave for England without playing the last 2 ODIs. 

It was quite eveident from both team's performance that 7-0 was on the cards, but KP can(n't) thank god that they actually escap 2 more post match presentation where he would have to explain how competetive they were and not to mention the on filed experince.

All i can say is ' KP,  you and england have been luky to have escap further embarrasment but come back much more competitive for the tests, Good luck KP'.
